The appropriate air/fuel ratio differs according to the equipment that’s in operation, so maintaining the right ratio differs from application to application. Off-ratio air/fuel mixtures can lead to dangerous situations, such as producing unstable flames, for example. Blowouts can occur if the velocity of the mixture exceeds the flame front velocity. Both situations should be avoided due in part to their negative results which could damage structures or degrade fuel nozzles.
